Structural Engineer: MEC
Architect: PMDL Architecture & Design
This is a new structured learning centre attached to the existing learning facilities at St Pauls. The new space is an open learning area created at the first floor level.
Engineering: MEC were engaged for the structural engineering in September 2009. The space under the new floor is an open play area for students and the number of supporting columns allowed was therefore restricted. This was provided for through the design of a post-tensioned band beam and slab floor structure. A simple portal frame structure above this provided an open learning floor. The result is a functional and elegant addition to the school.
