Client: Sydney Ferries and NSW Maritime

Engineer: MEC

The original ramps were fabricated in structural steel. In 2005 Sydney Ferries, undertook temporary repairs to the ramps which were in poor condition with extensive areas of corrosion. Replacement was undertaken in 2006-2007 with the project taken over by the new owners NSW Maritime. The new ramps were fabricated in aluminium.

Engineering: MEC were initially engaged by Sydney Ferries in 2005 to provide recommendations for the temporary repair of the steel ramps so as to extend their life until new ramps could be designed and installed. Following this we were engaged by NSW Maritime to design new aluminium framed ramps. A review of the framing systems and end supports for the ramps was undertaken and improvements incorporated.
